Red Sofa

As the artist herself states, all RedSofa creations are "Inspired by nature and human nature", and you can definitely see what she means by observing these finest pieces of jewelry. Gnarled branches intertwine with uncut stones, necklaces encounter bees and hives and everyday objects meet preciousness. The main materials are sterling silver, stones, natural wood and fibers, molded together to create something totally new. There's not even the slightest trace of banality in these jewels: they are made to be enjoyed.


Come l'artista stessa dichiara, tutte le creazioni RedSofa sono "ispirate dalla natura e dalla natura umana", e basta un colpo d'occhio per capire cosa intende. Rami nodosi si intrecciano a pietre, le collane incontrano api e alveari e oggetti della vita quotidiana diventano preziosi monili. I materiali principali sono argento, pietre, legno e fibre naturali, lavorati insieme a creare qualcosa di mai visto prima. Non c'è nemmeno la più piccola traccia di banalità in questi gioielli tutti da vivere.

Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2012 Paris

Recently it's quite easy to hear that runways have gone out of fashion (ironic, isn't it?). But the catwalk-formula is actually getting old and Marc Jacobs seems to agree. The fairy-tale setting of the Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2012 fashion show is innovative and definitely dreamy. The choice of white as the predominant color was a success and the carousel, the macramé lace, the feathers and Swarovski applications were simply marvelous. Chapeau.

Negli ultimi tempi si sente dire che le sfilate sono passate di moda (ironico no?). Effettivamente però la formula-passerella sta diventando vecchia, e Marc Jacobs sembra volerlo confermare. Un'ambientazione quasi fiabesca quella che ha presentato la collezione Louis Vuitton RTW p/e 2012, che fa sicuramente sognare. Meravigliosa la scelta del bianco come colore predominante, incantevole la giostra di luci, i pizzi macramé, le piume, le applicazioni di Swarovski. Chapeau.

Alexander McQueen RTW Spring/Summer 2012

A (much) deserved praised to Sarah Burton, who - in my opinion - was capable to perfectly revive the spirit of Alexander McQueen in the Spring/Summer collection 2012. Some say she should give a more personal touch to the brand and be less reverential. Personally, I'm too tied to the theatricality of the Maison (which Burton says her creations does not reflect, perhaps out of modesty) and to the absolute perfection of every single dress appeared on the runway. From sheath dresses that sculpt the silhouette and enhance the wasp waist to vaporous baby dolls to gowns, everything was just fabulous, breath-taking:

Un elogio (meritatissimo) a Sarah Burton, che ha saputo - a mio parere - far rivivere alla perfezione lo spirito di Alexander McQueen nella collezione Primavera/Estate 2012. C'è chi dice che dovrebbe dare un'impronta più personale al brand ed essere meno reverenziale. Personalmente, sono troppo legata alla teatralità del brand (che Burton dice invece di non rispecchiare, forse per modestia?) e all'assoluto perfezionismo di ogni abito salito sulla passerella. Dai tubini che scolpiscono la silouette e esaltano il vitino da vespa ai baby dolls vaporosi agli abiti lunghi, tutto era semplicemente favoloso, da togliere il respiro.

Arriva direttamente dalla Spagna il brand che ha già fatto breccia nel cuore di molti e che ha scelto, per la distribuzione, località prestigiose e piccoli negozi da sogno. Uno de 50  propone bigiotteria di alto livello e originalità, principalmente in lega di metalli placcati argento. La collezione è vastissima e i prodotti spaziano dagli orecchini ai bracciali, da collane agli anelli, da ammirare meravigliati e anche, perché no, divertiti. A Milano li potete trovare da Coin, o, se avete voglia di farvi un bel viaggio al mare, a Salina. In alternativa, potete acquistare nel loro negozio online.

Un'ignoranza tutta Italiana

We all make mistakes, there's no need to argue, but misinformation transcends excusable fault. It's not about distraction, carelessness or misspelling: it's simply not permissible for a journalist. And it is just too much, particularly to me and I dare not imagine to which degree to the person concerned. I strongly hope one day the fashion world will comprise in its vocabulary the concept of respect for animal life, but until that moment comes, I look to Stella McCartney in absolute awe. She is innovative, capable of conveying a timeless form of elegance. She's even the daughter of one of my beloved Beatles (!) and a staunch animal rights activist. Without exaggeration, she's everything I aspire to be. So I think you will understand my dismay when, leafing through the latest issue of Interior (a supplement to Panorama, a well known Italian magazine), my attention was drawn by a caption referring to one of the masterpieces of the Maison: the Falabella bag. The caption reads: "Bottom left, accessories by Stella McCartney: shoes with bright colors and jewelry details and bags in soft leather with metal strap." A true modern heresy by Rosa Tessa and - not to forget - all the staff headed by Gilda Bojardi, who failed to do their revision. To add insult to injury, the author had the bad taste to mention the British designer in an article also referring to fur as the "highlight of the season," even comparing it to "jewellery". Utterly unacceptable.

A tutti capita di fare errori, non si discute, ma la cattiva informazione non rientra nella gamma. Non è distrazione, non è sbadataggine, non è un errore di ortografia. Non è ammissibile per un giornalista. E questo è davvero troppo, in modo particolare per me e non oso nemmeno immaginare in che misura per la diretta interessata. Io che spero fortemente che un giorno la Moda possa inserire nel proprio vocabolario il concetto di rispetto nei confronti della vita degli animali, guardo a Stella McCartney con infinita ammirazione. Innovativa, capace di connotare un'eleganza senza tempo, persino figlia di uno dei miei amati Beatles e convinta animalista. Senza esagerare, lei è tutto ciò a cui punto. Potrete allora capire l'orrore provato quando, sfogliando l'ultimo numero di Interni, allegato a Panorama, l'occhio mi è caduto su una didascalia relativa ad uno dei capolavori della Maison: la borsa Falabella. Tale didascalia riporta: "In basso da sinistra, accessori di Stella McCartney: scarpe con colori accesi e dettagli bijoux e borse in morbida pelle con tracolla in metallo". Una vera eresia moderna, merito di Rosa Tessa e - se vogliamo - di tutto lo staff capitanato da Gilda Bojardi, che non ha saputo fare il proprio lavoro di revisione. Come ciliegina sulla torta, il cattivo gusto di citare la stilista britannica in un articolo che si riferisce alle pellicce come il "pezzo forte della stagione", paragonate addirittura a dei "bijoux". Assolutamente inammissibile.
